2022-05-31 - Dried, put into jarSliced 3 "sweet peppers" (same as pa1) ([[2022-03-27_Picked Anaheims 1]]) into rounds. Air fryer, 130 degrees, 8hrs. Seems important to have them on a tray, so air can circulate above and below.
There’s really not much to say here, they uh, they dried. Just like dried peppers you’d get at the store. Worked fine.
The air fryer we have has a "dehydrate" setting, which we haven’t had luck with in the past. But, we were trying to dry fruits - strawberries and bananas. Vegetables (with their lower water content) seem like they’ll dry much easier. Fruit is probably possible if sliced thinly enough. There’s a possibility here that this worked so well just by virtue of having so little material inside to dry - three peppers is not a lot.
I expect to try onions and tomatoes next, before a return to more thinly-sliced fruits.
It’s very acceptable to run the dryer overnight, with the windows open (as they always are). The small volume of the dryer can be offset a bit by just doing it every night.
